Top Banner displays an announcement bar or scrolling news ticker at the top of the WHMCS client area. Administrators can change its content, translations, and appearance without editing theme templates.
Install the module
- Back up WHMCS and upload
modules/addons/top_banner/from the module package. - Open System Settings > Addon Modules and activate Top Banner.
- Enter the license key and grant access to the required administrator roles.
- Open Addons > Top Banner.
The module documentation lists WHMCS 8.0 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer, and MySQL with utf8mb4 support. Use a PHP version supported by both your WHMCS release and the downloaded module package; these minimums do not mean every version combination works.
Configure a message
- In General Settings, enable the banner and choose a static banner or news ticker.
- Enter the default message. A static banner can include a link; a ticker accepts multiple messages, one per line.
- In Translations, add content for the WHMCS languages you use. Empty translations fall back to the default message.
- Use Styling and Typography to set colors, gradients, borders, shadows, alignment, font size, and font family.
- Use Advanced for page targeting, dismissal, animations, ticker speed, pause on hover, and an optional icon.
- Save and check the result in the client area on desktop and mobile.
For maintenance notices, include the date, time zone, expected window, and affected services. Check the message in every enabled language.
Display and dismissal
Choose all pages or the specific URLs where the banner should appear. An optional close button can remember dismissal for the session or persist it in the browser. A dismissed banner is not proof that the customer read the notice, and page targeting means not every visitor will see it.
The module uses the ClientAreaHeadOutput hook rather than a theme edit. Test it again after changing your theme or upgrading WHMCS; this does not guarantee compatibility with every custom layout.
Fonts and translations
You can use the supplied Google Font choices or a custom Google Font. These fonts require the visitor's browser to reach Google's font services. If a font fails to load, check its name, browser network errors, and your site's content security policy. Use a system font if you do not want an external font request.
If the wrong language appears, check the client's WHMCS language and the corresponding translation. A blank translation deliberately uses the default content.
Troubleshooting
- If no banner appears, check module activation, the banner enable setting, nonempty content, and page targeting.
- Test in a fresh browser session or profile to distinguish a dismissed banner from a display failure.
- For license errors, verify the key and licensed domain and confirm outbound HTTPS access to ArkHost.
- For layout problems, include the theme name, WHMCS version, PHP version, module version, page URL, and reproduction steps in your support request.
Settings are stored in the module's mod_top_banner table. Keep them in your WHMCS database backups.
