Secure your ArkHost account and recover access Print

  • 0

Your ArkHost login protects your Client Area, services and billing information. It is separate from a DirectAdmin login, an individual mailbox password or a VPS SSH account. Securing one does not automatically secure the others.

Use a unique password

Use a password manager to create and store a strong password that you do not use on other websites. Keep the email account used for your ArkHost login secure too, because it receives password-reset messages.

Start sign-in from arkhost.com/login. Check the address before entering your password, and do not continue through a browser certificate warning.

Enable two-factor authentication

  1. Sign in to your ArkHost account and open Security Settings from your account menu.
  2. Find Two-Factor Authentication and choose the enable option.
  3. Select the time-based authenticator option and follow the setup prompt.
  4. Scan the displayed QR code with your authenticator app, then enter the code it generates to confirm setup.
  5. Save the backup code shown at the end in a secure place you can access if your phone is lost.
  6. Confirm the settings page reports that two-factor authentication is enabled. Keep your current session open while testing a new sign-in in a private window or another browser.

The QR code, setup key and backup code are secrets. Do not send them to support or include them in screenshots. If the setup option is missing, contact support rather than changing security settings for an unrelated service.

Forgotten password

  1. Open Forgot password? from the ArkHost login page.
  2. Enter the email address used for your ArkHost login and follow the reset instructions.
  3. Check your inbox and spam folder. Use the newest reset message if you requested more than one.
  4. Choose a new unique password and sign in again.

Resetting a password does not replace the second authentication step. If you no longer have access to the login email address, contact support so we can explain the ownership checks needed for recovery.

Lost authenticator access

At the two-factor login prompt, use the backup-code option if you have your saved code. If a replacement backup code is issued after use, store the new one securely. Once signed in, reconfigure your authenticator as needed and test it before discarding the old setup.

If codes are being rejected, check that the phone's date and time are set automatically and that you are using the ArkHost entry in the app. Do not repeatedly guess codes.

If neither the authenticator nor a backup code is available, contact ArkHost support. Tell us that you cannot sign in and identify the account or service, but do not send passwords or identity documents unless we explain a suitable verification process.
