Free up disk space by deleting unnecessary backup files.

Delete Backups

  1. DirectAdmin → File Manager
  2. Open backups folder
  3. Hover over old backup → Click Delete
  4. Choose:
    • Move to Trash - Can recover later
    • Delete Permanently - Frees space immediately

What to Delete

  • Backups older than 30 days
  • Failed/incomplete backups
  • Test backups
  • Duplicates

What to Keep

  • Most recent full backup
  • Pre-update backups
  • Known-good configurations

Check Disk Usage

DirectAdmin dashboard shows disk usage. After cleanup:

  • Should be under 80% for best performance
  • Leave room for new backups

Notes

  • Download important backups before deleting
  • Empty trash to fully reclaim space
  • Each new backup overwrites the previous one in /backups/
  • BU-Backups are separate and managed automatically

Low Disk Space?

Also check:

  • Email accounts (large attachments)
  • Log files in /logs/
