Create a Subdomain Print

Create a subdomain such as blog.example.com for a separate section or application on your website.

Create the subdomain

1. Select the parent domain in DirectAdmin.
2. Open Account Manager → Subdomain Management.
3. Select Add Subdomain, enter the name such as blog, and create it.
4. Check the document root shown for the new subdomain before uploading files.

The usual layout places subdomain files in a subdirectory such as public_html/blog, not automatically in the main site's document root. A server or account can use a customized document root, so use the actual path displayed in your panel.

DNS and HTTPS

DirectAdmin can create records in its own DNS zone. If another provider hosts the authoritative DNS, create the required record there too. Check that the subdomain resolves to your hosting service, then ensure an SSL certificate covers the name.

DNS cache timing varies. If the subdomain does not work, check its DNS records, selected document root, uploaded index file and certificate. Do not overwrite the main site's files while troubleshooting a different subdomain.
