How to Transfer Your Domain to ArkHost

Transferring your domain to ArkHost involves several important steps. Follow this guide to ensure a smooth transition:

  1. Unlock Your Domain:
    • Log into your current registrar's control panel.
    • Locate the domain lock or transfer lock setting and disable it.
    • This step is crucial as locked domains cannot be transferred.
  2. Obtain Your EPP Code:
    • Request the EPP (Authorization) code from your current registrar.
    • For most domains, your registrar can provide this directly.
    • Special case for .be domains: You must request the transfer key from the DNSBelgium website.
  3. Update Contact Information:
    • Ensure your domain's contact information is up to date.
    • Incorrect information can cause transfer delays or failures.
  4. Place Your Transfer Order:
    • Log into your ArkHost account and navigate to the domain transfer section.
    • Enter your domain name and the EPP code.
    • Complete the order process. The transfer will extend your current registration period.
  5. Approve Transfer Requests:
    • Watch for approval emails from your current registrar.
    • Respond promptly to any confirmation requests to avoid delays.
  6. Update Nameservers:
    • By default, we set your nameservers to ns1.arkhost.com and ns2.arkhost.com.
    • Please note that your DNS zone will be empty initially.
  7. Transfer Your DNS Records:
    • You have two options for transferring your DNS records: a. Do it yourself: Log into your ArkHost control panel and add your DNS records manually. b. Request our assistance: Open a support ticket with details of your current DNS setup. We'll transfer your records for free.
  8. Confirm Transfer Completion:
    • The transfer process typically takes 5-7 days but can vary depending on the domain extension.
    • You'll receive a confirmation email once the transfer is complete.

Special Cases:

  • .be Domains: You must obtain the transfer key from the DNSBelgium website, not your current registrar.
  • Some country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs) may have unique requirements. Check with our support team if you're unsure.

Important Notes:

  • Ensure your domain is not within 60 days of its initial registration or previous transfer, as many registries prohibit transfers during this period.
  • If your domain is close to expiration, consider renewing it before transfer to avoid complications.

Remember, if you need any assistance during this process, our support team is here to help. Don't hesitate to open a support ticket with any questions or concerns.
