ArkHost moves a small number of websites for small customers free of charge.
Reseller accounts, larger multi-site moves and complex migrations are handled separately. Contact us before ordering so we can confirm the scope, timing and any separate terms or pricing.
What a standard website migration includes
- Moving website files and the database to your ArkHost hosting account.
- Configuring the site in DirectAdmin.
- Testing the site before you point the domain to ArkHost.
- Guidance for the DNS change after the moved site has been checked.
Before you start
Keep your current hosting account active until the website works on ArkHost and the DNS change is complete. Do not cancel the old account before then.
Open a support ticket with the domain name and a short description of the site. Have one of the following ready:
- Access to your current hosting panel or FTP account.
- A full backup containing website files and a MySQL database export.
- WordPress administrator access, if this is a WordPress site.
We will tell you what access or backup we need for the agreed migration.
What is not included in the free standard migration
- Reseller accounts, large batches of websites and complex migrations. We agree their scope separately before work starts.
- Repairing a broken theme, plugin, application or custom code.
- Cleaning malware from a compromised site. We need a clean source or backup before moving it.
- Moving email mailboxes. Tell us if email also needs to move so we can confirm a separate plan.
Timing
Migration time depends on the source host, site size, access and complexity. We confirm the expected timing after reviewing the site. We do not switch DNS until the moved website has been checked.
