Backuply: Backups and Restores in DirectAdmin Печать

  • 4

ArkHost uses Backuply for hosting-account backups. This guide applies to web hosting managed in DirectAdmin, not Hosted Email or VPS services. Backuply's DirectAdmin integration is separate from the Backuply WordPress plugin.

Open Backuply

  1. Log in to your hosting account's DirectAdmin control panel.
  2. Search for Backuply or open Backuply Incremental Backups in the panel's plugin area. The menu location can vary with the DirectAdmin theme.
  3. Open Restore & Download to see the backup types and restore points available for your account.

Check the date and contents of the backup you intend to use. Available restore points, retention and restore options depend on the backups completed for your account and the enabled permissions. Do not assume a specific date is available until it is listed.

Before restoring

Warning: A restore can overwrite newer files, databases, email or settings. Changes made after the selected backup may be lost.

  • Save an independent copy of your current data first where possible.
  • Choose the smallest restore scope that solves the problem. Avoid a full-account restore when only a file or database needs recovery.
  • For a live website, consider a maintenance window and pause changes during recovery. Restoring files and a database from different dates can leave an application inconsistent.

Restore files or a home directory

  1. In Restore & Download, open Home Directory.
  2. Choose the required backup date.
  3. For specific files, use Change File Selection, select the files or folders you need, then choose Restore Selection.
  4. Use the backup's Restore action only if you intend to restore the full home-directory backup.
  5. Review and confirm the restore warning.

Restore a database

  1. Open Restore & Download → Database.
  2. Find the correct database and backup date.
  3. Choose Restore and confirm only after checking the target.

A database restore can replace newer website content, orders or other application data. Make sure you have selected the correct database.

Restore a full account

If a full-account restore is required and available, open Restore & Download → Full Backups, select the required restore point and choose Restore. Review the scope carefully before confirming. Contact support first if you are unsure what will be replaced.

Check progress and test the result

Open View & Manage → Logs in Backuply to follow the restore. A submitted request is not proof that the restore has finished. After it completes, test the affected website, database or other restored data.

Keep your own backup copy

Where Backuply offers a Download action, you can download the selected backup. You can also create and download a manual DirectAdmin backup. Manual DirectAdmin backups use a separate interface from Backuply's restore points.

Under the ArkHost Terms, you remain responsible for keeping your own backups of critical data. Hosting backups are provided on a best-effort basis depending on your plan. Keep an independent copy outside your hosting account.

If a backup or option is missing

Open a support ticket with your hosting username or primary domain, the affected domain, the approximate backup date and the restore scope you need. Do not share your hosting password.
