Change PHP Version for a Website Print

Set different PHP versions for individual websites in DirectAdmin.

Steps

  1. Domain Management → Click your domain

  2. Click Modify Domain

  3. Click PHP Version Selector (near the top, next to ModSecurity)

  4. Select the PHP version you need

  5. Click Save

Available Versions

Common options include:

  • PHP 7.4 (older WordPress sites)
  • PHP 8.0 (stable, widely supported)
  • PHP 8.1+ (newer features, check compatibility)

After Changing

  1. Clear browser cache
  2. Test your website thoroughly
  3. Check error logs if issues appear

Common Issues

PHP Version Selector missing

  • Not all hosting plans include this feature
  • Contact support to enable it

Website shows errors after change

  • Revert to previous PHP version
  • Update your CMS/plugins to support newer PHP
  • Check error logs: System Info & Files → Log Viewer
